Today that walker is making a great, great way on his walk. Not only is he walking, now he is flying and is making a way like the eaglet that grew up and became an eagle in the land of condors. Ese es mi sobrino "De la ley" a quien tanto amo y con quien estoy caminando, pedaleando y volando como una experta águila. Dios me lo proteja mucho y lo acompañe constantemente en esta tremenda y valiente determinación. I've been following your adventure since I got to know that there was a mailing list, which was around the time you were getting out of California. I think that you are doing a great thing and I really admire your strength against all the obstacles that come against you. I know you can do it and you know you can do it. I am sure that our Lord is looking after you, following you everywhere you go and giving you the strength needed when things are difficult. I'd also like to tell you that when you write your book, I'll be one of the first to buy it. As Jaime did on his message, I'll give you a tip. What a great man of the Lord and what a great way to share Him with others while getting to know Him so much deeper! Miles' sermon a few weeks ago reminded me of you. He said something to the effect of "we face wonderful opportunities brilliantly disguised". I always leave his sermons thinking that it was written for me. Anyway, after immediately applying it to my own life, my mind drifted to you and the many "brilliantly disguised opportunities" you have shared and thoughts of the many, many more you are having. I'm sure, great book material. Hope you write it!(Great, Great web page by the way) It's amazing to think that it's Feb. already and you will be home soon! Hi to Manny's family. By the way, thought you would want to know about a couple of typos. ON the main page the button that reads "Achivement" should be spelled "achievement" and then when you go to that page there is a typo too. It says "To be announce" - I think you wanted to say "To be announced". And the invitation is still open for you to drop back by here and share with the youth or on a Sunday evening Communion service about what God has done in your life during the journey. YOU HAVE MADE ME SO PROUD. I AM SO HAPPY OR IN MIKES WORDS "STOKED" TO BE YOUR GIRLFRIEND. I LOVE YOU FOREVER AND ALWAYS. LOVE, *KRISTIN* "FUZZY" Name: David Mathews CommentManny First and foremost, congrats on your achievement. Muy bien hecho. I was surfing the web this morning for things about the PanAmerican highway. A bit of background, when I was 15, I went to Chile as an exchange student and stayed in a town that you drove almost through. You may remember it... as you drove up la cordillera de los andes en Chile, you passed through a town about half way up called Rio Blanco. I lived 4 kilometers off to the right (south) of that town in a little mining village called Saladillo. One day while I was there (in 1996), I was hiking up through some of the mountains with another exchange student friend of mine and we decided that one of the neatest things we'd each like to do would be to drive the greater length of the panamerican highway. Take day trips to cities on either side, visit all the countries, the locals, the foods... the shops etc. Well to make a long story short we have been unable to ponernos en contacto for quite some time now, but my dream of doing it has yet to diminish. So a friend of mine from Michigan and I are thinking of doing it next summer. I saw your story and thought of you as being a lot like me in some ways. Very determined, focused. I would be delighted to keep an ongoing correspondence with you, as what you have done is very unique... not to mention quite cool. Maybe you could give me some pointers... some cool places to visit... and answer a question I've harbored forever... how do you get through panama? I have heard the road does not extend through it's entire length? How difficult was it to get through the various countries' customs etc. Anyway, don't want to make this too long. I hope you still check this, and I certainly hope to hear from you. Put something obvious in the topic of your email so I don't accidentally delete it. Looking forward to hearing from you David Mathews 3510 Harrison St. Rochester Hills, MI 48307

My trip is going to partially circumnavigate the U.S. I am going to go up the east coast, down the great lakes, across the u.s. to Oregon, and then down the west coast. However, I found your route very interesting. In fact, I think the route through Alaska and Canada must be fantastic. Is there some way I could get information on the route from you. I already purchased several maps that will take me through my course, but I would like to compare it to your route. Jorge Name: Rick J. Name: Danae Bellew CommentDear Manny, I was in Clarissa's class last year (Manny's sister) while you were on your journey. You have been an inspiration to both myself and my family. We are proud of you! GO TO YOUR DESTINY!!!! Name: Joe Gallagher CommentEmmanuel, I was lucky enough to go to your slide presentation in Sonora, California last night. (Great job!) You have accomplished more in 263 days than most people accomplish in their whole life. I talked to you after the slide show and mentioned another bike rider author I have met. His name is Bruce B. Junek. His book is titled, "The Road of Dreams." His book describes his two year, around the world bike trip that he and his wife took. They quit their jobs, sold their stuff, and rode off on their bikes. They now continue to travel, and then they write books and do school assemblies for a living. Best of Luck, in all your future journeys "to the stars." J. Gallagher Name: J.R. Mellin Commentemmanuel- just wanted to say thanks for sharing the story and congratulations. i stumbled on your site as i was thinking about the pan american and sort of web-surfing around. i'm a young (22) wandering biker like yourself (not nearly to your extent though : ) and i just thought what you did was great. good luck with school and whatever the future holds for you. taker easy -jr Name: Ian MacKinnon CommentDear Manny, Like the surfer guy earlier, I was just thinking about the Pan-American Highway and got on the web and you are what it spat back. It seems to me that you are one of the pan-americans prophesied by Walt Whitman and Pablo Neruda. You are a Che Guevera for the new century, but this time with an earth & ear-friendly vehicle(Che used a motorcycle). You carried a Bible instead of a gun. Of course, guns figure in Che's later life, but I wonder if he carried a weapon on his moto-trek of the Americas. I'll have to actually read his diaries, I suppose. I propose to anyone else considering this trip to call the Organization of American States and see if they'd like to back it--usually we only hear about the O.A.S. when U.S. soldiers are about to land in warzones like Panama and Haiti. A bike-peace mission to strengthen the idea behind the OAS might just ring their bell. Who knows--maybe you could even get support for a bike & foot trail over the Darien Gap. Hopefully they get you to come back next year for my senior year. Some of my friends were joking around about biking it to Sonora to visit you, but I actually think that would be cool. My aunt just moved from Sonora to some place called Mokason. So I kind of know that area. Hope to get an Email back soon. Bike it!! Congratulations to all bike riders and long-distance riders. You are good for the world. I am contemplating a similar trip. I am debating leaving Prudoe Bay in August or leaving from Tierra Del Fuego in January and going north. There are two things that are of special concern to me. Colombia and head winds. Can anyone help me with,... Head winds. Which direction would be best to take advantage of friendly winds? Colombia,.. Is it as bad as it seems? Is it just too dangerous now? Also,...Costs. What do you think is the minimum amount of $$$ necessary for an enjoyable and successful trip. All opinions welcome. As Walt Whitman wrote, "A foot and light-hearted I take to the open road, Healthy, free, the world before me. The long brown path before me leading wherever I choose. Henceforth I ask not good-fortune, I myself am good-fortune, Henceforth I whimper no more, postpone no more, need nothing, Done with indoor complaints, libraries, querulous criticisms, Strong and content I travel the open road." I believe recognizing God empowers those to achieve above and beyond. Good luck with your future endeavors and have fun!! I am thinking about taking a few months off and going on a long bike trek and was curious what you thought the best about supplies to bring. Did you carry most of your food, and camping supplies, or did you find it easier to stay at hotels in central and south america. Hey if you don't mind I would also be curious to see how much your trip cost. I am planning to go for about four months, so basically I could nearly divide it in half, since I will be traveling hopefully through central america and then fly to peru to do the inca trail etc... congrats again. Thank you so much for your outlook and appreciation for what have accomplished. I am older now 50 and started my life at a young age traveling to work on an Island off the coast of Vancouver Island BC, at the age of 14 1/2 and then on to drive the United States with a buddy who did stay the course, at 16 and then to Alaska at 17. Those experiences gave me the confidence to take tackel any chalange that was before me. I have lived very much as you encouraged us to, to strive for and reach for the stars and my life has been very fulfilled to date. I feel this is because did what I wanted, when I wanted it, and how I wanted it and I strived to accomplish it. You brought a tear to my eye as I realized what you had accomplished and that we do still have young people in our world who are heading out in life to explore and take these personal risks. Saludos, Tim Gibson Chapel Hill, NC Name: Frank Broderick CommentGracias, mi amigo! Your trip has been so inspiring. I am 47 and would love to do this trip. A dream is to circumnavigate Australia by bike ... all things are possible with determination and God! Perhaps the most beautiful thing in your memoirs is your relationship with Our Lord, Jesus Christ. It is wonderful reading about your faith and your witness for God. Thank you so much for allowing others to share a mile or two in your moccasins. I found your website while surfing for info on the PanAm Hwy. Go for it brother. I expect to see your next adventure crossing from Alaska via the Aleutians, across Siberia and up to the top of the world in Norway, then down to the tip of Espana, across to Morocco, then down through Africa to Cape Town. Has anyone ever done it? I believe you may be the one to do it. Give it a go! You are such an inspiration, makes me want to spend much more time on my bike. I can't wait to hear from you. Name: Elaine Eure Henderson CommentDear Emmanuel, For anyone herding animals, horses, buggies or biking, we now have some wonderful paved back roads where the ancient Caddos had mounds. This is a special place on the earth, where Pleiades is overhead in February for the Ancient Indian Feast of the Big Moon. It doesn't get cold here. Llamas and giant tapirs now extinct were here when the French rediscovered the place in April of 1717!!!The depictions of Compte Buffoon were accurate! The Indians said, and how they translated is beyond me, referring to Pleiades, "They say they are people up there, but you can't convince me!" I am looking for Kevin Reem. I took the opportunity on this super-cool website to tell you some things I really enjoyed: 1) the way you did not let other people affect your goal, 2) the magnitude of your dreams, and 3) the portion of your story when you were camping with a man who said "shoot for the stars, land on the moon.", when you created the saying "Aim for the stars, take a rest stop at the moon, or two moons, but keep aiming for the stars and you will reach them." Thank you so much for sharing your story with us. -Raquel Name: Ruby Campos CommentDear Emmanuel, I was at the 2005 RYLA camp that you also attended this weekend. I wanted to let you know that your speech was truly inspirational. You showed us all that if we want something bad enough, we should never give up. It's fine to take a rest, but never give up. My friends and I plan on backpacking through Europe, and of course our parents think that we're insane. We're "too young" and "don't really know what we want". Being familiar with the South American portion of the trip I marvel at your accomplishment and would like to buy your book if it has been completed. My interest derives from my own attempt to drive the South American part of the trip, from La Guaira, Venezuela to Tierra del Fuego. This was in 1948, when I was fresh out of university (I am now 82). I drove a 1948 Ford convertible (a poor choice considering some of the roads I encountered and some of the streams I had to cross; maybe a bike would have made more sense but even then I would not have had the strength or patience to carry on by bicycle. As it was, I gave up the trip after I arrived in Lima, where I ended up staying for 20 years. My adventure cannot compare with yours, so I would like to get your book. Please advise. I am testing the site Name: Arvind Parakkot CommentKeep going Immanuel ! Name: kent reisenauer CommentI have learned that their is a fine line between love and the hope for love. One sees themself wishing so hard for love that they imagine it as being so. True love as as simple as it can be. When you are in you darkest hour you will realize things that you normally wouldn't you will see the past pass before you and you realize the mistakes that you made and the times that you have shared with someone. But you will often wish that there was somebody to help lift you up and that is true love because even during hard times they are the one that you prayed for. love isn't necessarily the having the life with someone you match with. it can also be knowing that you lost the chance to be with somebody who gave you hope, saw things in you that you didn't believe was there. Love can be only a dream and it can also be a dream come true. The choice that you have to make is do you want your dreams come true or do you want them left a dream Name: Sandra Ambrosio Commenthola Emanuel !!quisiera hacerte algunas preguntas sobre tu viaje es posible te comuniques a mi e-mail.Muchas Gracias Name: Sandra Ambrosio Commenthola Emanuel !!quisiera hacerte algunas preguntas sobre tu viaje es posible te comuniques a mi e-mail.Muchas Gracias Name: Chelsea CommentHiEmmanuel, I finally took a look at your site and I love it! Still remember the night I spent with you in your dorm room and going out with some of your friends to the downtown festival. I'm doing fine. I'm writing to you from Algona, IA (about 80 miles SW of Minneapolis, MN). I left Americus, GA on March 27th of this year to start my 14th missionary bike tour of the USA. I've covered almost 4000 miles so far this year. Haven't had the chance to speak at very many churches this year like I did last year. I will be speaking at the Assembly of G-D church in Algona this Sunday to two Sunday school classes and during the morning service. The miles keep adding up. I'm just 43 miles shy of passing 158,000 miles. Pretty good for somebody who turned 50 back on June 15th. Don't be shy in writing to me. I want to not lost contact with you. I'm contacting you this way since my email message to you bounced back to me undeliverable. Urdu is the language spoken and understood by more than one sixth of the total population of the world. Urdu is spoken in Pakistan, India, Nepal, Afghanistan and also in Indonesia, Malaysia, Iran and others. I would ask you to pray and share it among the brethrens there. I would offer my services for being translator, recorder and distribution/sales. I pray that your consideration will have His mark over your decision. I really wish to translate these of yours teachings into Urdu and Punjabi languages. This will bring a lot of blessings for Urdu and Punjabi speaking people.
